About Us
The concept of Public Police was envisioned by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Maheshwari, a Chartered Accountant with over four decades of professional experience, and Mr. Deo Datta, IAS (Retd.), who served the nation diligently throughout his distinguished bureaucratic career of more than forty years.
Public Police is a registered Trust (NGO) based in Delhi, established under the guidance and blessings of Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Ex-Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, along with the valuable support of former High Court judges, senior IAS & IPS officers, former law secretaries, and distinguished members of civil society.
Our mission is to serve as a trustworthy bridge between society and law enforcement agencies. The true measure of an effective police force lies not in the number of arrests made, but in the prevention of crime and the maintenance of law and order. Unfortunately, public trust in law enforcement has eroded over time, leaving many citizens hesitant to approach the police even in times of need.
Public Police aims to change this perception by fostering transparency, trust, and cooperation between the public and the police. We work to build an environment where police personnel are viewed as protectors and partners in community well-being, while also holding law enforcement accountable to the legal and ethical standards of the country.
To achieve this, our team organizes community forums, outreach programs, conferences, awareness campaigns, and educational events to promote understanding, reduce mistrust, and strengthen confidence between both sides. By bridging this gap, we envision a society where law enforcement operates with integrity, compassion, and dedication, while citizens feel secure and respected.
