Disclaimer: Public Police is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Delhi, India. It is not an official government app or service and does not represent or have any direct affiliation with any government authority.

Public Police India ("we", "our", "us") is a non-governmental organization (NGO). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our website publicpoliceindia.com and our mobile application (together, the "Services").

1) Information We Collect

  • Account & Membership Data: name, email, phone, address (state/district/pincode), profile image, father/husband name, gender, date of birth, occupation, and membership status (registration and upgrade).
  • Identification (optional): Aadhaar number or other ID details if you choose to provide them.
  • Complaint Data: complaint descriptions, categories, related police station/state head selections, attachments (documents/images/videos), timestamps, and status updates.
  • Technical Data: device identifiers, app version, IP address, browser type, operating system, and usage logs (e.g., screens viewed, actions taken).
  • Payments (future): if a payment gateway is enabled for membership upgrades, payment details will be collected and processed securely by our payment partners. We do not store full card/bank details on our servers.

2) How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your member account and membership upgrades.
  • Enable complaint registration, routing, and action by authorized personnel (e.g., state heads or relevant police station contacts).
  • Send notifications and communications about complaints, membership, and service updates.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve our website, app, and user experience.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of the Services and ensure security.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

3) Sharing of Information

  • Authorized Personnel & Authorities: complaint details may be shared with designated organization officials and, where applicable, with relevant police authorities to act on the complaint.
  • Service Providers: hosting, maintenance, analytics, messaging/OTP, file storage, and (future) payment processors under confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal & Compliance: when required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request; or to protect rights, safety, and property.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information.

5) Data Security

  • We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, logging) to protect your data.
  • No system is 100% secure; you are encouraged to use strong passwords and keep OTPs confidential.

6) Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Complaint records may be retained per legal/operational requirements.

7) Your Rights

  • Access, correct, update, or delete certain personal information via your account or by contacting us.
  • Request restriction or objection to certain processing, and portability of data where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g., marketing), subject to legal limitations.
Requests may require identity verification. Some rights may be limited by law or our need to maintain records for legitimate purposes.

8) Third-Party Services & Links

Our Services may link to or integrate with third-party services (e.g., analytics, OTP messaging, cloud storage, payment processors in future). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We recommend reviewing those policies before providing personal data.

9) Children’s Privacy

The Services are intended for individuals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without appropriate consent from a parent or legal guardian.

10) Data Location & International Transfers

Data may be processed and stored in India and, where our service providers operate, in other jurisdictions. Where data is transferred across borders, we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable laws.

11) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a revised Effective Date. Material changes may be communicated via in-app/website notices or email, where appropriate.
